친애하는 여성연합 회원여러분,

5월 15일, 세계평화여성연합 몰타지부에서 세계평화여성연합창립 20주년과 ‘UN 가족의 날’을 기념하기 위하여 몰타 대통령인 조지 아벨박사(Dr. George Abel)께서 계시는 산안톤궁(Palace of San Anton)을 예방하게 되었음을 알리는 보고를 드리게 되어 매우 기쁩니다.

21명의 회원들과 관계자들은 대통령의 영접을 받았습니다. 대통령께서는 저희들이 응접실에 앉기 전에 참석자 한 명 한 명에게 다정하게 악수해주셨습니다. 저희들은 환영의 다과를대접 받았습니다. 저희는 그 후 약 30분에 걸쳐 여성연합에 대해 소개하였고, 여성연합의 활동내용과 창립자이신 한학자 박사님께서 최근 열렸던 20주년기념 순회강연 때 주셨던 말씀 내용이 담긴 브로셔를 대통령께 전해드렸습니다.

저희들은 또한 대통령께서 후원하고 계시는 공동모금 기금후원금으로 100유로의 수표를 대통령께 드렸습니다. 대통령께서는 저희에게 감사를 표하시고 궁의 역사와 대통령과 영부인께서 당선 된 후에 달라진 점에 대해 설명하셨습니다. 대통령께서는 여성연합의 활동과 컨퍼런스에 대해 물으셨고, 저는 여성연합이 UPF와 함께 지난 11월 4일에서 6일까지발레타에 위치한 대통령궁에서 국제지도자 컨퍼런스를 성공적으로 개최하였다고 말씀드렸습니다. 대통령께서는 우리의 활동에 대해서 깊은 감사를 표하셨습니다. 왜냐하면 평화는 성취하기에 쉬운 과업은 아니지만, 가장 고귀한 목표라는 것을 이해하고 계시기 때문이었습니다. 대통령께서는 여러 국적으로 이루어진 저희들 그룹을 보며 기뻐하셨고, 몰타에서 일하는 것이어떠냐고 물으셨습니다. 긍정적인 내용의 답변이 이어졌고, 그런 대화는 저희 방문의 긴장을 푸는데 도움이되었습니다. 대통령께서 친히 함께 계시고 친절히 대해주셔서 저희들은 영광 이었고 동시에 환영받고 있다고 느꼈습니다.

저희가 떠나기 전에, 대통령께서는 전시책임자를 불러 궁과 정원을 구경 시켜주라고 지시하셨습니다. 그리고 일어나서 쭉돌아가면서 전체 참석자들 한 명 한 명에게 다시 한번 악수를해주셨습니다. 궁 전체를 다돌아 본 후에, 저희는 대통령의 정원 레스토랑으로 가서 그곳에서 정원의 햇살과 친근한 분위기를 가득 담은 맛있는 다과와 시원한 음료를 함께한 사람들과 즐기면서 그날 아침을 즐겁게 마무리했습니다.

May Event: UN Day of the Families....Visit to the President of Malta

Dear Sisters,

It is with great pleasure that I write this report  to inform you that yesterday 15th May, WFWP Malta celebrated its 20th anniversary of WFWP Int, as well as ''UN Day of the Families'' by paying a courtesy visit to The President of Malta Dr. George Abela at his residence, the Palace of San Anton. 21 members and associates (made up of 10 different nationalities) were greeted by His Excellency who very cordially went around shaking hands with each one present before being seated in the drawing room. We were then treated to a welcome drink. During the next half an hour,  we had time to introduce our organisation and presented him with a brochure about the work of WFWP as well as the recent 20th Anniversary speech that our Founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon gave in her speaking tour.

We also presented  Dr. George Abela with a monetary cheque of 100 Euros as a donation towards the Community Chest Fund of which he is patron. His Excellency thanked us and went on to explain to us the history of the Palace and the changes he and his wife have made since his election.  He enquired about our work and conferences and I mentioned that WFWP had worked in partnership with UPF last Nov 4-6 to  successfully hold  the ILC Conference at The Presidential Palace in Valletta. He expressed his sincere appreciation for our work because although he understands that PEACE is not an easy task, yet it is the most noble goal. He was happy to see so many different nationalities and asked how they liked working in Malta. The expression of positive comments that followed, soon helped ease the formality of the occasion. His warm presence and  hospitality made us all feel both honoured and welcome.

Before we left, The President instructed the curator to take us on a tour of the Palace and its gardens. He then stood up and once again went around shaking hands with everyone present.  After the grand tour, we went to the President's Kitchen-garden Restaurant where we ended the morning leisurely enjoying each other's company and sampling delicious sweets and cold drinks immersed in the sunny and friendly atmosphere of these grounds.
