11월 1일 수잔 콘 회장(케냐)과 모리 사치꼬(국제자원봉사자)씨는 케냐 정부 국방부 실장 부인 헬렌 엔카이써리씨와의 만남을 통해 케냐 여성연합의 활동과 전 세계에서 진행되고 있는 여성연합의 활동을 소개하였다.

또한 수잔 콘 회장은 마샤이 문화인 어린 여자아이 여성할례 문화에 대하여 반대의견을 강력히 전달 하였다.

이에 엔카이써리씨는 전 세계에서 진행되고 있는 여성연합의 많은 활동에 깊은 인상을 가졌다는 소감과 함께 또한 여성할례의 위험성과 마샤이 여성들의 권위를 높일 수 있는 활동과 재원 증진이 필요함을 절실히 느낀다며, 주민들에게 여성할례의 잔인함과 불필요성에 대하여 더 많은 교육을 할 수 있도록 가능성을 더 두고 노력하자고 전했다.

Introduction of WFWP Activities to a VIP

On the 1st of November, Mrs Sachiko Mori and Pres. Susan Kone visited Mrs Helen Nkaissery in her house for a courtesy call, her husband is the Assistant minister for Defence- General Nkaissery in the Kenya Government.

We introduced WFWP activities and she was really inspired. She also explained to us about her Anti-FGM activities and especially in the Maasai community where many young girls are subjected to the cruel cultural practice of Female Genital mutilation (FGM).

Mrs Nkaissery presented Mrs Sachiko Mori with a gift Photo with Mrs Nkaissery . She explained that she has been teaching women groups on the dangers of FGM and also promoting finance generating activities to empower the Masaai women.

We promised to connect with her later and see the possibilities of giving an input in the noble task of educating the population against the cruel and unnecessary practice of the FGM. The meeting ended with a positive note and we exchanged our contacts for future communication . It was a pleasant visit and Mrs Nkaissery was very positive with the work WFWP-Kenya is doing.
