조지아 여성연합은 지난 5월 10일 ‘세계, 사회, 가정 내에서 평화를 만드는 데 있어 여성의 역할‘이란 주제를 가지고 올드 트빌리시 호텔에서 평화회의를 가졌다. 조지아, 러시아, 아르메니아, 아제르바이잔 그리고 아브하지아 자치공화국에서 온 60여명의 참석자들이 함께 하였다. 이날 회의에는 각 나라를 대표하여 아브하지아 전 보건부 장관, 전 문화교육부 살로메(Salome Kapanadze) 장관, 조지아 국가평화위원회 데릴라(Dalila Horava) 의장, 조지아 올림픽위원회 논나(Nonna Gaprindashvili) 명예의장, 조지아 올림픽 체스 챔피언의 발표가 있었다.

이어 ‘평화의 다리’ 자매결연 행사가 있었다. 각 국에서 온 여성들이 결연을 통해 서로 화해하는 시간을 가졌다. 특히 아제르바이잔과 아르메니아는 여전히 양국 간 심각한 갈등이 존재하고 있어 매우 의미 깊은 일이었다.

참석자들 모두 평화와 화해를 위해 앞으로 더욱 노력하겠다는 의지를 보여줬다.

NER – Georgia h Holds a Peace Conference, ‘Women’s Role in the Peace-Making Process in the Family, Society and World’

On May 10, 2014, the WFWP and the UPF held a Peace Conference: ‘Women’s Role in the Peace-Making Process in the Family, Society and World’ at the Hotel Old Tbilisi, in Tbilisi, Georgia.

60 participants from Georgia, Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Abkhazia took part in this event. There were prominent speakers representing each country, such as the former Minister of  Health of Abkhazia, the Chairperson of the National Peace Council of Georgia Mrs. Dalila Horava, former Minister of Culture and Education of Abkhazia Mrs. Salome Kapanadze, a famous Olympic chess champion of Georgia, the honored Chairperson of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia Mrs. Nonna Gaprindashvili and others.

After the speeches, the ‘Bridge of Peace’ ceremony was held. Women from Russia and Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia took part in this ceremony. It was very meaningful for these countries, especially for Azerbaijan and Armenia, that are still in a very serious conflict.

All participants expressed their sincere desire to make more effort on the way toward peace and reconciliation.
